On Friday, December 16, we held our 8th Annual Academic Expo, welcoming families, alumni and friends to our campus to see the academic work of our students. Student work was represented in the academic areas of literature, math, science, and history, as well as Edge projects and music. American Sign Language students signed holiday songs, while Spanish students demonstrated their study of the culture by dancing Salsa. Our younger Kodiak students designed an Animal Food Chain, and each student studied a specific animal within that chain. Language Training games and writing pieces were on display for visitors, demonstrating the importance of Orton-Gillingham tutoring in our curriculum.
The Keynote Speaker was Kildonan alum Michael Asquith '04, who works for LeetHomes, a Property Development and General Construction company with an edge in technology home innovation. We also wished our mid-year graduate, Luca, well he begins his collegiate journey in January at the University of Tampa studying Pre-Law.
The week of the Expo, students collected donations for Hudson River Housing, participated in an Ugly Holiday Sweater day, made Gingerbread Houses, and had a surprise visit from the man in red himself, Santa.
It was a successful end to 2016, and we look forward to seeing our students again in 2017. We wish all our families, friends, and alumni a very happy holiday season!
