Grandparents, Families Visit for Founders Day Weekend 2017
Communications Office

We welcomed Grandparents, Special Friends, Kildonan parents, Alumni, and our Board of Trustees to campus for a two-day celebration of Founder's Day on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13. Kildonan students showcased their leadership skills, project-based learning, musical ability, artistic creativity and athleticism through a wide spectrum of presentations.

Grandparents and Special Friends were invited to campus on Friday, May 12 to visit classes with their students, and witness all the incredible multi-sensory learning that happens at Kildonan. The Kildonan Parents Association held a BBQ in the evening and sold beautiful flowering baskets as a fundraiser for student activities. The weather was perfect for watching horseback riding and listening to musical performances, always a highlight during Founder's Day weekend!

On Saturday, Kildonan's youngest students, the Kodiaks, performed their play "Fortunately the Milk", while the 10th grade students presented their year-long Personal Projects. Over the two days, students participated in student panels about "What Kildonan Means to Me", as well as an Edge and Kodiak panel discussing their joint project "Our Ideal Learning Environment." A spectacular display of diverse artistic mediums adorned the walls of the theater at the Art Expo. Alum Ari Goldstein '14 met with students and families to discuss moving on to college after Kildonan, and Keynote Speaker Jack Reily shared his experiences about finding success as a dyslexic individual. It was also wonderful to see Kildonan's co-founder, Diana Hanbury King, back on campus to celebrate the day with us!

Until next year, here are some moments from Founder's Day Weekend 2017:
