College and Career Readiness
In the Grades 11/12 Program, our students develop college and career readiness by pursuing goals for their lives post-Kildonan. Our students exercise substantial control over the content, style, and structure of their learning even as they satisfy the School's diverse and rigorous academic credit scheme.
Each student creates a personalized schedule that allows him/her to study the major academic disciplines housed within post-secondary institutions (Literature, History, Science, Math, Foreign Languages, and the Arts). All of our learners investigate discrete topics within the classrooms, but some also choose to pursue their own areas of focus by creating internships and/or by enrolling in Edge: a self-directed, interdisciplinary program in which students examine subjects of interest according to the lenses of Literature, History, and Science. Finally, students consult with Kildonan's College Counselor throughout their time in the program in order to reflect upon their learning, assemble their college applications, and monitor their goals.
Across the offerings of the 11/12 program, students cultivate adaptive and critical thinking, collaborative and empathetic work habits, personal passion, and self-advocacy.
