Facilities

Nestled at the foothills of the Berkshires, Kildonan is located on over 300 beautiful acres 90 miles north of New York City.  The natural components of campus include hiking and riding trails, camping areas, terrain for mountain biking, a small pond, and gorgeous fall foliage.  There are also two sets of athletic fields, a horseback riding ring, tennis courts, the Abu Haidar Stables, and the Kildonan Athletic Center, which opened in the fall of 2008.

On the lower portion of campus, we have three distinct academic buildings for the Elementary, Middle, and High School programs.  The Shirley M. Kokesh Building, opened in 1999, is the newest academic building on campus and houses grades 2-6.  The Middle School program shares its space with the St. John Library, and the High School resides in the Main Schoolhouse.  Both of those buildings were here when Kildonan took over the campus from the Barlow School in 1980.  All three buildings are equipped with SMARTBoards® and a T-1 line for Internet access, and the spaces are designed in a way to support multi-sensory instruction and one-to-one Orton-Gillingham tutorials.

The upper portion of campus includes the facilities for boarding life and most of the faculty residences.  In 1993, Stephen D. Goldman hall was opened and how houses all five- and seven-day boarding boys in grades 7-12.  Female boarding students reside in the King House, opened in 1995 and named in honor of the school's founder, Diana Hanbury King.  Situated between the two dormitories is the school's dining hall, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner for both day and boarding students in grades 7-12.
