Boarding Students
Boarding is available to all 7-12 grade students, and families have two options: 5-Day and 7-Day Boarding. In a typical school year, approximately 70% of our Upper School students reside on campus. Our 5-Day boarders usually live within reasonable driving distance and either take the Metro-North train home from Wassaic or get picked up by a parent or guardian after school on Friday afternoon. 5-Day Boarders live with us from Sunday dinner through Friday afternoon.
The majority of our boarding students are 7-Day Boarders, and they are with us most weekends when school is in session. After school on Friday, they have free time and then attend a supervised one hour study period to begin work on their weekend assignments. After their study session, they join several of their friends and one of our many faculty members who reside on campus for a faculty cook-in. Faculty and students prepare a meal together and then have time to play a game or watch a movie. On Saturdays and Sundays, a variety of off-campus excursions are offered, ranging from art and athletic events to movie trips and community service programs. In addition, there are activities scheduled on campus, including time in our Athletic Center or Computer Lab. Both 5-Day and 7-Day Boarders attend dinner on Sunday evening, followed by a supervised two hour study period to complete their weekend assignments.
Students enjoy the many opportunities that boarding school life provides while parents appreciate the enhanced educational experience their child receives, including the structured daily schedule and supervised study time, as well as a defined social network.
