Athletics
Students on the playing fields are likely to become more accomplished in the
classroom.
Through athletics, we offer our students an arena where they can gain
self-esteem and respect for each other. Faculty members serve as coaches,
promoting the valuable lessons of cooperation, sportsmanship, and team
spirit.
Situated in a cluster of private schools, Kildonan offers beginning and
experienced athletes interscholastic competition. For those students who
prefer to concentrate on individual skills and fitness without the
competitive element, we also offer recreational sports. At the elementary
and middle school levels, students are taught fundamental skills and
teamwork with ample opportunities for every team member to have game time.
At the junior varsity and varsity level, students learn to work with
coaches during the daily rigor of practice and in the heat of competition.
They know their potential to make brilliant plays but also the possibility
of making critical mistakes. They learn to celebrate moments of glory and
to forgive in moments of error.
Fifth and sixth graders may join Middle School teams; younger children enjoy a variety of activities including biking at several levels, hiking, and games.
