Dress Code

Elementary Dress Code

Class Dress (See Lands’ End School Uniform Catalog)

Tops: Solid colored, collared shirts, dress shirts or blouses, polo shirts, mock or turtlenecks (NO prints, plaids, or stripes); Sweaters or blazers (NO sweatshirts, hoodies, or outdoor wear)

Bottoms: Dress pants, slacks, or skirts (NO cargo pants, painters’ pants, or other extreme styles).  Dress shorts of an appropriate length may be worn in hot weather.

Kildonan Casual (Dress-down Day)
We also have days when the students may dress informally in jeans.  Those days will be determined and announced in September.

Tops: Collared shirts (NO tee-shirts or sweatshirts, NO inappropriate words or images on clothing)

Bottoms: Jeans or other casual pants (NO sweatpants, sports pants, pajama pants, or short shorts)

In General
-All clothing or footwear should be clean and in good repair.
- PARENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED IF THEIR CHILDREN COME TO SCHOOL OUT OF DRESS CODE AND WILL BE ASKED TO HELP THEM COMPLY.


Upper School Dress Code: Grades 7-12

At Kildonan, we believe that neat attire encourages respect for learning and concern for one’s surroundings.  Kildonan adopts a dress code from the Lands’ End School Uniform catalog. 

Upper School (Middle and High School) Dress Code

For Boys:
Shirts, Ties, Blazers/Sweaters
: Boys are to wear a white, blue, or french blue collared dress shirt and one of the many available ties from the Lands’ End School Catalog.  Shirts must be tucked in at all times.  Boys must also wear a navy blazer, or they may choose to wear a Kildonan-logo Zip-Front Cardigan in lieu of a blazer.  The cardigan must be embroidered with the Kildonan logo and worn over a shirt that is tucked in.

Pants/Shorts: Boys are to wear approved pants or shorts (when the Headmaster grants approval) from the Lands’ End School Catalog, a belt.

Footwear: Traditional dress shoes are acceptable (e.g., no flip-flops, sporty sandals, or sneakers).  Dark socks must be worn with class dress.

For Girls:
Tops: Girls are to wear a collared dress shirt from the Lands’ End School Catalog at all times.  Shirts may have no more than two buttons unbuttoned.  Shirts must cover the midriff.  If a short-sleeve shirt is worn, a long-sleeve shirt may not be worn under it.  Girls must also wear a Kildonan-logo Lands’ End sweater or vest over their collared dress shirts.  

Bottoms: Girls may choose to wear pants, a skirt, or shorts (when Headmaster grants approval) from the Lands’ End School Catalog.  If a skirt or shorts are worn, the length may be no less than two inches above the center of the knee.

Footwear: Traditional dressy footwear is acceptable (e.g., no flip-flops, sporty sandals, or sneakers).  Dark socks must be worn with class dress.

Kildonan Casual For Boys and Girls (Dress-Down Day)
Dress-down Day typically occurs one day/week (usually Wednesday) and is announced ahead of time during morning assembly.

Tops: Students must wear a Lands’ End School Uniform polo shirt (any available color) with the Kildonan logo embroidered on the front.  If a student chooses to wear a shirt under the polo shirt, it should not be visible unless it is a white undershirt that shows only at the collar.  Under no circumstances should a long-sleeve shirt be worn under a short-sleeve polo shirt.

Bottoms: Students may wear jeans, dress pants, khakis, corduroys, shorts (when approval is granted from Headmaster) or skirts (girls only--no less than two inches above the knee).  Athletic pants and ripped clothing are not permitted. Undergarments may not be shown.

Footwear: Students may wear sneakers, sandals, flip-flops, or dress shoes.
