Snowstorm Update for Families

Dear Kildonan Families,

As you've likely heard and may be experiencing yourselves, we are in an area that was impacted by the unusual snow storm on Saturday. Fortunately, only half the campus lost power,and all of our academic buildings are fully functional. We are, however, without phone and Internet. In addition, hundreds of cell towers are off line, so making cellular calls remains difficult.

The non-academic buildings, like the residence halls, dining, and others, are operating on generators, which are providing core heat and electricity. While not as fully functional as our academic buildings, they continue to provide a safe and secure environment for the students.

Although it's been three days since the storm, approximately 2 million homes in the Northeast are still without power. Some areas will take many days to restore power. The town of Amenia came back online last night, and we do anticipate that full power will be restored to campus within the next 24 hours. Hopefully, phone and Internet will follow.

In the meantime, if there is an emergency or you need to reach campus, please use the crew chief cell phone - 845-264-1335. Again, cell service is limited so it may be difficult to get through at times.
