The Kildonan School strongly recommends that trainees participate in the practicum experience to supplement their Associate and Certified course hours. The supervised practicum, when taken in conjunction with the course hours, fulfills the requirements necessary for application into the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators at the appropriate level.

Associate Level Practicum Experience:

In order for a trainee’s Associate practicum experience to meet the requirements of the Academy, it must include a minimum 100 hours of tutoring one-on-one, sessions lasting forty minutes to an hour at least twice a week, over the course of an academic year (a minimum of 8 months). The Fellow overseeing the practicum completes a minimum of ten observations in addition to supervising the trainee’s overall tutoring experience and completion of the Associate level readings.

Supervised practicum $1500 (to be paid at $150 per observation)

Certified Level Practicum Experience:

In order for a trainee’s Certified practicum experience to meet the requirements of the Academy, it must be a minimum 200 hours of tutoring sessions lasting forty minutes to an hour at least twice a week, over the course of two academic years (beyond the initial one year Associate level practicum). The Fellow overseeing the practicum completes a minimum of ten observations in addition to supervising the trainee’s overall tutoring experience and the completion of the Certified level bibliography of readings.

Supervised practicum $1750 (to be paid at $175 per observation)
