Campers learn the basic building blocks of filmmaking including composition, editing and sound design. The first portion of the course is primarily about acclimating campers to the idea that filmmaking is its own language. Some early exercises include filming a subject in a close up shot, a medium shot and a wide shot and then combining all three of these types of shots in order to tell a story. Campers gain an understanding of sound and how to incorporate sound effects and music into their projects.
