Kildonan Community Member
Giving students with dyslexia a voice is a goal for each Kildonan student. The Kildonan community was excited to hear Alan Alda’s conversation with Eye to Eye Founder David Flink. The two spoke on a recent episode of Alda’s Clear and Vivid podcast.
Both are members of the broader Kildonan community. Alda is grandfather to a recent graduate. He was also our most recent graduation speaker. Flink joined our community after Kildonan founded the first chapter of Eye to Eye at the high school level.
In Alan Alda’s speech to the 2018 graduating class he asked them not to take life too seriously. He said they should embrace failure. They should not put limits on themselves because of dyslexia or other reasons. He provided the graduates with an exercise to practice when failures happen. Check out how our graduates did with Alda’s “TaDa!” exercises!
Discussions on Dyslexia
In 2013 Kildonan partnered with David Flink and Eye to Eye to host Discussions on Dyslexia. In Alan Alda’s series “Alan Alda Talks to the Experts,” Alda oversaw the discussion with Drs. Brock and Fernette Eide, Dr. Manuel Casanova, and Dr. Fumiko Hoeft.
