Jennifer Amato oversees our Health Center, which is staffed 24/7. Nurse Jenn has been with Camp Dunnabeck for eight years and previously worked at The Kildonan School for five years. Health and safety are our priorities. The Health Center maintains nursing staff, CPR, AED, and First Aid-trained support staff.

Before campers are admitted to our camp, parents must provide a physician with signed documentation of a physical exam within one year and up-to-date immunization.

Sean Andrews has been with The Kildonan School and Camp Dunnabeck since 2014 as an OG Practioner and Assistive Technology Instructor. Facilitating as Camp Director and Program Coordinator since 2019.

Presently, Sean works as the school's Educational Technologist at Bay Ridge Prep School in Brooklyn, NY. His passion for educational technologies and their ability to revolutionize education motivates him to support students and teachers with tools to expand their potential and prepare them to be digital citizens in an ever-changing world. Sean is also an avid snowboarder and snowboarding instructor, holding a Level II national certification from the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI)

Gail started working in the Business Office at The Kildonan School in 2011. She is the Girls' Dorm Head and helps out with the Equestrian Program for Camp Dunnabeck. Gail lives in Torrington with her husband David of 38 years, along with their cat Inky. Gail's favorite pastime is riding her horse RJ which she tries to do every chance she gets.

An experienced classroom teacher, Clinical Supervisor, and Certified Orton-Gillingham tutor, Sherry taught at The Kildonan School in Amenia, NY, for twenty years until its closure in 2019. She has extensive experience working with students with dyslexia from grades two through twelve using the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Before teaching at The Kildonan School, she taught IB music at The International School of Beijing (ISB) and directed the ISB Honors Jazz Band. A professional musician, Sherry continues to enjoy playing the organ and piano and was the organist at Christ Church in Sharon, CT, for over 20 years. Drawing on her considerable music background, teaching experience, and Orton-Gillingham training, she created and directed a unique and successful music program at the Kildonan School specifically designed to challenge the brains of dyslexic students. As The Kildonan School’s Testing Coordinator, she trained testers and oversaw the administration of the school’s standardized diagnostic testing program. She continued her work with students with dyslexia at the Indian Mountain School (IMS) in Salisbury, CT, as a teacher in their Ascend Program until relocating to upstate New York, where she continues to support students with dyslexia in her private practice and as the Director of Language Training for Camp Dunnabeck at its new location in Kent, CT. As an Orton-Gillingham Clinical Supervisor, Sherry continues to assist in the training and mentoring of other tutors.

Kim is a Certified Orton-Gillingham tutor, IMSLEC tutor, and Structured Literacy Specialist. Before coming to Camp Dunnabeck, she taught at the Greenwood School in Putney, Vermont, the Carroll School in Lincoln and Wayland, Massachusetts, and the Boston North Children’s Dyslexia Center in Massachusetts. She continues to support students with dyslexia and language-based differences in her private practice in Vermont. Previously, she studied science and taught students in Massachusetts. She trained as a research scientist specializing in immunology. She enjoys spending time with her dog, Honey, and outdoor activities of rowing and biking in her free time.

Karl has spent nearly all of his 32-year career as a boarding school educator. A 1985 alumnus of The Kildonan School, he began teaching, tutoring and coaching there in 1990. He also served in several capacities, including coaching, dorm supervision, and advising, and served as Director of Residential Life and Dean of Students. Most recently, he served as Director of Residential Life at The Greenwood School.

Karl is the Senior Director of Kildonan’s Camp Dunnabeck team that moved the camp successfully to the Marvelwood campus in the summer of 2020. He is delighted to be involved with the Kildonan/Marvelwood partnership and is happy to be a member of the Marvelwood community.

Yvonne assists Kildonan and Camp Dunnabeck's administration and is the Admissions Officer for Camp Dunnabeck. She has been with the Kildonan since 1997 and Camp Dunnabeck since 2014. Yvonne also serves as the Registrar for The Kildonan School.

Kathleen is a Fellow of the Orton-Gillingham Academy and Director of the Kildonan Teacher Training Institute. She has been with Kildonan since 2005. Kathleen began her Orton-Gillingham odyssey at Massachusetts General Hospital. She served as a Fellow in Residence for the Norwalk Public Schools from 2019- 2021. She holds an MA and MAT in English and holds teaching certifications in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. With extensive experience training teachers in the Orton-Gillingham approach at the Classroom Educator, Associate, and Certified levels, she is thrilled to work jointly for Marvelwood and Kildonan, bringing 1:1 Orton-Gillingham language training to students and teachers at Marvelwood.
