Orton-Gillingham Tutor

Camp Dunnabeck seeks a dedicated and experienced Orton-Gillingham Practitioner to provide one-on-one instruction to students with dyslexia. The OG Practitioner will potentially work with campers ages 8-16 and will be responsible for developing individualized lesson plans to meet each camper's unique needs while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one OG instruction to students with dyslexia.

  • Develop individualized lesson plans to meet the specific needs of each camper.

  • Use multisensory approaches to OG instruction to enhance understanding and retention.

  • Collaborate with other camp staff members to ensure the campers' success.

  • Keep accurate records of each camper's progress and communicate with parents and guardians as needed.

  • Provide end-of-camp reports for campers in these activities.

  • Attend and participate in all required staff meetings and training sessions.

  • Complete a background check.

Requirements:

  • Orton-Gillingham experience
    • Minimum of Associate level coursework with practicum completion/progress preferred

    • Experience at the Certified level is especially preferred and will correlate with a higher salary.

    • Experience with diagnostic and prescriptive instruction preferred

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong writing skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
